As president and chief executive officer of Caulk Management Company, William David Hill is responsible for handling various Maryland-based businesses, and he is also president of Hill Hospitality, a hotel developer. In his free time, William David Hill enjoys reading books such as The House of Morgan.

Ron Chernow authored The House of Morgan: An American Banking Dynasty and the Rise of Modern Finance, in 1990. Former President Barack Obama awarded Chernow the 2015 National Humanities Medal in September 2016.

In the past year, the House of Morgan was also named as a top summer reading suggestion by Pensions & Investments, an international newspaper of money management.

The award-winning book also served as an inspiration to 24-year-old Michael Young, who was 19 at the time he first read it. Since then, he has gone into investing and he ultimately sent an email to all 200 Och-Ziff Capital Management employees via his personal Gmail account.

Through that message, he advised the $40 billion hedge fund to focus on increasing tangible book value, developing automated trading strategies, and advocating for the sale of the company to a buyer that could better manage the business. The communique has since generated both positive attention and controversy in the investment industry.
